ith many years of training and experience, I have over 39,000 documented names in my own family history.  In addition I have resources at my fingertips which afford me access to information on hundreds of thousands more people.  My passion is tracing family lines tracing to the founders of America (both North and South),  then tracing them back into the English Isles and Europe, especially into the medieval era.

Located in Virginia, I have easy access to the genealogical resources in Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Virginia. These locations include The National Archives, The Library of Congress, The Daughters of the American Revolution, etc.

I also make regular trips to the LDS Family History Library in Salt Lake City, and The Denver Public Library, which contains one of the ten largest genealogical libraries in the United States.

I teach various genealogy courses for Rappahannock Community College and suggest my students watch the following television shows:

  • Finding Your Roots with Henry Gates, Jr. (PBS)
  • Who Do You Think You Are? (TLC)
  • Genealogy Roadshow (PBS)
  • Tree Branches, Unlimited Associates

Laura W. Hazel, whose genealogical interest started in 1981.
